Providing food for breakfasts, lunch and snacks

Nanaimo-Ladysmith Schools Foundation (NLSF) supports students daily with it’s Food4Schools initiative, providing food for breakfast, lunch and snacks at school.  With these unprecedented times (COVID-19) NLSF will provide students with breakfast and lunch hampers to replace school meals.

We are relying on the strength of community!  With extended school closures, we need your help now more than ever. Please donate today!

Frequently Asked Questions

Most frequent questions and answers

Who does Food4Schools support?

Food4Schools supports current students in Nanaimo Ladysmith Public School who participate in School Meals programs and need support to access supplemental groceries.

How do we access/register for Food4Schools?

Please contact your child’s school to be added to the hamper list. During the summer, email: food4schools@nlsf.ca to be added or removed from our list or to make changes to contact information.

What about summer?

Typically Food4Schools is offered during the school year, however, due to the impact COVID-19 is having on many families, we will be continuing the Food4Schools hampers during the Summer Break. Weekly hampers will be available for contact-less pick up at designated hub schools throughout the district.

What is in a hamper?

An average hamper may include: milk, eggs, bread, tuna, fresh fruit, cereal, crackers, veggies, yogurt, soup, granola bars, etc. Items may vary week to week based on availability.

I am a community member or business, how can I support the program?

All donations ($20 and over will receive a tax receipt) are greatly appreciated and allow us to bulk purchase, shop case lot and stretch our food dollars. Want to host a fundraiser? Volunteer over the summer?  Please contact us at crystal.dennison@sd68.bc.ca
