Food4Schools

Providing food for breakfasts, lunch and snacks

Nanaimo-Ladysmith Schools Foundation (NLSF) supports students daily with its Food4Schools initiative by providing food for school meals programs.

Food4Schools has created a food depot to allow us to access donated food, bulk purchase, sort, store and deliver to schools across the District.  We work directly with all schools to help them provide healthy meals and snacks to vulnerable students.  Programs may include breakfast, lunch and/or snacks.

NLSF provides support to almost 1,200 students who participate in school meals programs.

Student Support Fund

Poverty is very real in our schools

With your support, the Foundation is able to help get kids to school healthy, happy and ready to learn by providing  food programs and supporting other basic needs. Local donors and a partnership with the Breakfast Club of Canada ensure that many students can start their school day with a meal. Many children come to school hungry, without school supplies or shoes for PE, with ill-fitting or dirty clothes, with no money for field trips, school sports and grad ceremonies.

Stock The Lockers

Many families are struggling to make ends meet leaving students without the adequate supports they need to be successful learning at school or from home. Your generosity allows us to reach vulnerable students and provide the basic supports they need. Your gift can make a difference in helping a student reach their potential and find success at school.

Lottery68 50/50 Draw

Employees of Nanaimo Ladysmith Public Schools (NLPS) are invited to sign up for a 50/50 draw benefiting students. A $5 entry fee is deducted through NLPS payroll for a chance to win the Lotto68 50/50 draw. There are two draws per month.

Half the deduction help to provide scholarships to graduating students and the other half is awarded to the staff member whose name is chosen.
